Interesting Facts about Kia cars
A very interesting fact about Kia is that more than 40% of Kia Motors Co. shares are held by the other South Korean automobile giant Hyundai. The name Kia means “coming out of Asia” in the Korean language. After the Asian Financial crisis in late 90s, Kia Motors Co. had to declare bankruptcy and at that time, in order to prevent a takeover from the Ford Motors Co. Hyundai stepped in and acquired more than 50% of Kia Motors Co. shares. This was done in order to prevent the Americans from taking control of another Korean company because following the financial crisis, the US had already taken over the Korean automobile giant Daewoo.
